Inside the Terrace
I’ve been coming here and shooting Bethesda Terrace for many years. I’ve photographed Bethesda Terrace in all kinds of weather, different times of year, time of day and gear. Photographing the terrace and fountain never seems to get old, let alone Central Park.
I shot this image in January, it was cold and there was light snow on the ground. I enjoyed the shoot a little more than most because there were very few tourists there to obstruct the view. During the summer, this place is like an amusement park.
I almost called this shot “the other side” just because most photographers shoot out the other end of the terrace, where the fountain is visible. Also, I think the slight signs of aging and water damage give this particular shot a little character.
