A fairly obscure spot, Coughlin Park’s cove is nicely hidden just to the east side of Coughlin Park, and a great view of Boston. Coughlin Park is a very nice area of Winthrop, Massachusetts located just a few feet from the water where the harbor searates downtown Boston and Logan Airport, from Winthrop. Just a couple of blocks in the other direction down Bay View Avenue is the ocean side of Wintorop.
I’ve always enjoyed exploring the many hidden places in this area around the several coves. They almost all have wonderful views of not only Winthrop, but the Boston Skyline, as well.
So, this little path around Winthrop Head and the water tower is my favorite shortcut along the shore when I want to avoid Shirley street. Traversing this area between Shore Drive and Deer Island is quite scenic. I enjoy shooting this time of year over near here since the lack of foliage permits greater visibility for the tower and dwellings along the shore.
Lastly, I absolutely love this stone wall down here at the base of water tower hill. I’ve been shooting that wall for years from different perspectives. I’d love to see how much more of it there might have been 100 years ago.
